The scrimmage begins in earnest with an unlikely participant entering the fray.

-Long summary-

Angels and natives a like fan out to avoid being skewered by the spires erupting from the ground. The angel who is the source of this power remains on his feet, but his arms are bent at an unnatural angle, and his face is opaque, devoid of anything resembling emotions. The Youngest pumps more of his supernatural power into the conduit, which gives the spires more accuracy, speed and height. Eventually even angels who take flight aren't safe from these ground spires and find themselves getting stabbed. The Youngest grins with delight at how unexpected the angels are falling to his power, his naivety toward battle on public display. He allows himself to wash in the estcasy that is the despair of his enemies for a moment longer before a shiver dances down his frame and he looks comes back to the earthly plane. The silent boy stands beside him, and his characteristic expression of distance slowly fleeing from the sides of his face. Pure naked, ugly and most of all very real fear has now come to find his face to it's liking and threatens to take over his entire being. The Youngest shakes him asking what's the matter, until he sees just what it is.

Dio has lunged for them, his eyes cold as the ice age. In his palm pure light dances and pulsates, but that doesn't scare to the two neer-do-well children, instead they are completely immobilized by how remote his expression is. No anger, no satisfaction, just the knowledge that what he is doing is -in his eyes, the just thing to do. If they are completely erased so be it. The Youngest quickly realizes that power doesn't just come from someone who has it, no...but from someone who believes they do. Right now, the Deus feels that in order to bring peace he must completely obliterate them. No skin off his back if they don't feel this way, and while it might make dealings with the other natives a little difficult later, he is still willing to bear the weight of his decision to take their lives on his shoulders. In essence, they exist only until the time he reaches them, and for no other reason.

The Youngest takes his silent and scared friend and quickly dives into the woods, barely missing Dio as he dives past them. The Deus is close enough that he can see the small flickers of light dance before his eyes, and feel it's warmth on his face. The warmth of a mother's embrace with the deadliness of her choke hold from behind. The Youngest is ransacked by sudden feelings, but one launches itself from the pack and declares itself the leader. That feeling is the fear of something like that reaching him. Fear, more than any he had experienced. Dio stares into the woods and starts slowly towards them, knowing full well that they cannot escape. The Youngest yelps and drags his friend through the woods in a futile effort to escape his enemy. Since they escaped without looking at the situation at hand however, they don't know that the elder soul steps up in front of Dio and stops him from pursuing the boys.

Dio's emotions do not break through his mask as he asks the elder to step aside. The Elder soul shakes his head and pleads with the Deus to leave them and allow him to take responsibility for their punishment. He's afraid of what Dio might do in his hasty judgement, moreover that light....could the angels always do that? Dio stares down at the elder soul who bears his visage, and then spreads his hands around the clearing at the hurt and frightened members of his race. He asks the Elder soul if he truly believes that he can continue being the leader of the angels and allow those two to escape unpunished? The moment they hurt an angel, they went from being his problem to being a major problem. As the person who had approved this mission down below, he has a responsibility to answer to the calls of his hurt people with justice, no matter how cold and unfair it might be. He asks if the Elder soul understands this as a leader?

The Elder soul nods slowly, responding that he does understand as a leader. The problem is he too as a leader has to answer to the calls of his people. As such, allowing an outside faction to judge them is not something he can do. There is no dispute that the boys are in the wrong here, but they are natives not angels, and as such he should be the one to apprehend them and administer punishment as necessary.

Dio can feel himself losing control of the situation, and by extension himself, but he remains calm and asks the Elder soul what they can do in this situation? The Elder soul mulls this over and replies that they should work at apprehending the two without harming them first in order to properly access the situation. Dio nods curtly and asks a few angels who are unhurt to follow them into the forest. He then asks the choir to look after the one angel who had been possessed with the Youngest's power, and find out if he will be okay. One of the members of the choir asks what Dio will do, and after a moment of silent nostril flaring, the Deus says he will remain here momentarily. If nothing satisfactory comes of this method of doing things then....he will have to act. He states this last part at the behest of the Elder soul to insure that he is understood. The Elder soul nods and asks the other natives to stave their tempers and follow his instructions. They need to bring back the two natives who had run and bring them before him. Dio watches the choir look over the fallen and growls to himself.

The Youngest and Silent one have made it through the forest and for a moment wait to allow the fear to wash from their corpreal bodies before speaking or even moving again. The Youngest asks if his friend is okay, and he agrees that he is, though his expression hasn't returned to its normal soft and distant self. He asks in a shaky voice what just happened? The Youngest punches a nearby tree out of frustration upset that he'd allow himself to be manipulated by the angel leader! He should have stuck with his conviction there, but something just told him that doing so would mean only tragedy for his cause....and more specifically himself. The Silent one's expression reverts and he comments that running may have been for the best, thought he too is confused as to why they felt so strongly about it.

A hushed voice laughs at them and asks if they truly have never felt mortal fear before? The Youngest turns and snarls demanding to be told what is humorous about their situation, and is surprised to see that Sadariel is up and about, though he has to use a nearby tree to support himself. Despite this, he's on the road to recovery and looks a lot better than how the Youngest had left him. The Youngest asks the wayward angel what he means by this, but thanks to his ability to 'perceive' the hearts of others, an idea begins to unfurl in his head. Sadariel continues, stating that all things have an end eventually. Of course no one looks forward to a premature end, and as such the soul and body dread this more than anything. The end is the end after all....no chance to continue, to prosper, to seek or to find....

The Youngest asks how he got here, and the angel replies that it seems the angelic constitution is just that much stronger than the Native one, incredible as the natives's abilities are. He's feeling mostly better already, and within a few days would be back up to snuff. The Youngest growls knowing now that pain will no longer serve as a leverage. He then smirks as he begins to realize Sadariel's nature, something he hadn't taken the time to when they had originally met. The Youngest then asks the angel if he'd like to know more about the 'power' that woman and his friend had discovered? Sadariel raises an eyebrow and asks the native boy if he feels he is an idiot. He has no intention to trust him, and is in fact here to ensure that they meet their premature end. He can tell that they're running from something, and intends to help whatever it is capture them. The Youngest starts to lunge at him in pure frustration but is stopped by a burst of light. He immediately recoils as he thinks about Deus's power and leaps back. To his surprise Sadariel looks shocked as well, which would indicate that he had nothing to do with this burst of energy. The Silent one observes the light's tragectory and notes that it has turned into a flame. The Youngest and Sadariel both stare at the source of the light and their expressions darken.

The Native boy leaps from a tree above them and lands in the clearing. He is followed by Ambriel who descends from above, her wings opened. As soon as she reaches the ground she deactivates them and stands beside her beau, a new resolution in both of their eyes. Sadariel asks what they're doing here, and Ambriel states succinctly that she will bring an end to this. It had been her and her beau who had started this after all, so she will end it with her own two hands. The Youngest asks how they intend to 'end' anything, and the Native boy answers this question, stating he will get his former friend to submit using the power that had been born between he and his woman.

The Youngest's eyes flare and he snarls at the Native boy, asking him how much he wants to betray him and their people? The Native boy smirks and replies that he is himself, and as long as he hasn't betrayed that core belief he will be fine. The Youngest turns to Sadariel with a sickening smile and asks if he will continue to allow his friend to take that woman from him? He then states mockingly that he already knows that while his body is healing, the rift in his heart only bleeds more upon witnessing this. Sadariel asks quietly if this is Ambriel's choice? Ambriel's steely gaze averts for a mere moment as she answers that 'she will not waver again'. Sadariel's lip quivers in anger and he reaches out to the Youngest, demanding power. The Youngest's eyes gleam an unholy black hue as he complies and takes Sadariel's hand. He exerts some of his power and the angel's body pulsates before bursting in a solid jet black flame. He glares at the two menacingly, claiming that Ambriel did this to herself, and that the two of them only understand each other, so this is his gift to her.

The Native boy regards his love for a moment, knowing what her true feelings are behind the steely front she was projecting. She is scared more scared than she had ever felt in her life...more scared than she could handle. It is then he makes a promise to himself and takes her hand. Ambriel glances at him, surprised and then sad in one fell stroke. She silently pleads with him not to do this, but the Native boy shakes his head and smiles warmly, asking her to remember their promise. The little angel girl's eyes well up as a warm blue flame wraps around her.

The two angels lock eyes on each other as the flames both blue and black whisper their intent to the silent sky.
