The actions of the native group and the angels clash head on as the gears of destiny spin into chaos.

-Long summary-

The native boy and his two friends tie Sadariel to a tree in an uninhabited part of the forest. The shorter native smiles; satisfied at his work as the other two look on. The native boy is caught in a fissure of his own emotions, relishing Sadariel's apparent comeuppance, while also being anxious as to why he feels this way in the first place. Had his contact with the angels changed him more than he thought? Or is this something that has slept within him and was only stirred by the situation at hand? Either way, the sense of malaise threatens to eat him from the inside should he not speak up, so he does.

He asks the younger boy what they intend to do to Sadariel? They've already hurt him enough that he won't run away, so why tie him up too? The boy glances at him, his expression mildly annoyed. He explains in a tone similar to a professor explaining the same theory to the same student for a fifth time, that Sadariel and the angels are changing them. That isn't bad in and of itself, but they are changing the natives in the way they feel is convenient. Even this 'deus' guy who had suggested they expand their land is probably only doing it because he wants to claim this for himself right? It is now up to them to stop the angels from going too far and taking too much.

The native boy glances at his friends with an ever increasing expression of anxiety. How long had they felt this way? That the angels are trying to take over their people? That they need to be saved? This couldn't possibly have been a something he thought of only recently. The shorter boy looks a bit confused for a moment, unable to answer the question. He states that he simply had a 'feeling' when he first saw the group of three when they arrived. Admittingly, there hadn't been any sort of precedent for this 'feeling' other than the mere facts that the sudden expansion and the angels rise in prominence. What if they decide that they (the natives) are no longer necessary? What then? The boy can't stop himself from shaking uncontrollably from the thought -he can tell that the angels are mercilessly powerful, and should they be provoked, they would mercilessly destroy them. Knowing this, he can't allow it to happen. He won't. This was the reason he had captured and 'educated' Sadariel. It seems even with their 'power' the angels can be harmed if the natives have the element of surprise. At first this element was meaningless since the natives have no way of counter checking this threat, but now....Sadariel's findings had been exactly what they needed. It seems for one reason or another, the natives respond to the angel's feelings with overwhelming power. He's not sure how it works, but it had all but been confirmed by the boy and Ambriel's relationship. Of course it would be foolish to simply base their counter on a single trial, which is exactly why they had a 'friend' go and further prove this 'theory'.

The boy realizes that his friend is using fellow natives to further his ends, and angrily calls him out on it. If the angels are as dangerous as he describes, how could he allow one of their own to grow so intimate with them? The shorter boy glares at him and asks if he thinks of Ambriel as the same then? She's docile now, but if their leader 'deus' waves his hand, they could all become a force that would wipe them out. If he wants to continue to fraternize with her, thats up to him. He is offering the boy the chance to save himself from uncertainty, from the invetible. If their 'friend' achieves the same success that he has managed with Ambriel, then their plan will commence with or without him.

The native boy starts to protest this 'plan', but his shorter friend stops him by holding up a hand, and shushing him. The four stand silently for a moment, until the shorter boy's lips turn up at the corners and he nods approvingly at something. He invites his friends to follow him and see the results of their 'trial run' for themselves, and see if it's a plan worth following. He addresses this last part to the native boy exclusively, and then leaves with a satisfactory smirk on his face. The silent boy follows without looking back at his friend, and the native boy finding his strength again scowls and follows his fellows.

Ambriel finds herself back at her dwelling, unable to locate the native boy. She sulks for a moment, wondering where he could have gone? She felt too uncomfortable in the natives camp to stay long when it had become apparent that the boy wasn't there. Sadariel's promise and their actions afterwards left her with an overwhelming sense of guilt. Even putting that aside, they hadn't yet told anyone about their relationship, neither the boy's people or her fellow angels. Was what they are doing wrong? If it is the right thing to do, then they should have come cleanly out about it from the beginning right? If they had then perhaps this situation wouldn't be spiraling out of control. She had managed to find out a little bit more information about the celebration Deus had been planning with the elder spirit. It is apparently supposed to take place in a few days within the camp of the natives, and everyone is expected to attend. The angel takes come comfort in the last part since at least if she can't find the boy soon, he'll have to show up at the celebration, and it seems deus was suspending expeditions so that everyone could be present for the celebration, so should the boy agree it's not as if they'd be leaving right away. Still, the discomfort stemming from her inability to find him had managed to even trump her guilt. She would take a quick rest and try again to look for him in the neighboring angel camp. The area the angels are occupying grew due to the celebration, since many had called back home to those who would brave the decent to see their loved ones and the brave new world, so some of the angels had been relocated so that these people would have a place to stay. Not all of the natives had adopted the material forms of the angels yet, so they required less space so it had been almost second nature to increase space for their party while taking it from the natives.

Ambriel gets to her feet and decides to try the neighboring dwelling in hopes that she can find the boy. The sky sleepily fades into the red hue of evening as she departs, and this causes her to quicken her steps so that she may return before evening.

The three natives come to the auxiliary angel camp and without hesitation the younger boy heads towards one dwelling in particular. As the three approach, they feel the temperature around them drop sharply. While the silent boy and the native lag back slightly, the younger boy grins maniacally and presses further.

Opening the tent he sees the female native straddling the tall angel, who lies motionless and...frozen to the ground. The girl looks up at the trio, her face blank. She asks the youngest if he understands what just happened, and he replies quickly that it doesn't matter. He knows now that their plan will work, and that is what is most important. The native boy pushes them aside and tries to help the frozen angel, but the girl shocks him by stating that she already tried to do that when he froze up, and he didn't move at all.  At all. All are shocked by this, even the youngest who had seemed unflappable up until this point. He asks the girl quickly if anyone saw them, and she replies in the negative. He tells the silent boy that they'll need to hide the angel until they can figure out what happened to him. The native boy protests, and says that they will tell the angel leader now, or else. The youngest glares at him, and before he can react, he is the recipient of a shove that sends him outside of the tent. The youngest asks how long he'll continue to coddle that angel girl? Will she have to show her true colors before he'll understand that she is not his friend or lover?! The youngest then commands the other two to take the angel boy into their custody immediately. They do so, finding the angel surprisingly easy to lift. The youngest notes this, and without turning to the native says that he will proceed to attack before being attacked, and that he should hurry up and leave if he doesn't have the backbone to follow him.

The native boy can only watch in shock as his two friends and fellow native take the evidence of their deed and escape. Emotions run so strongly over him that he is unable to move for a moment, his mind working furiously to understand what he just saw. How, what, and why?

He doesn't notice Ambriel standing behind him until she asks if he's okay, and he nearly jumps ten feet into the air. She doesn't hide her surprise at his reaction and asks what's the matter? It seems like he's seen something terrible..The boy glances back at her, his expression pure fear and anguish. He embraces the angel, who despite her surprise finds herself returning his affection. For a moment the two stand silently, until Ambriel asks him if he cares for her. The boy is taken aback, and confirms quickly --perhaps too quickly, that he does. Ambriel nods slowly and asks if he then would want to go away with her? Away from the promise with Sadariel, away from the secrets, the pain, to somewhere...somewhere unknown, just the two of them?

The boy looks into her eyes, and can tell she is serious, and is really willing to throw everything away to be with him. He grits his teeth and turns away from the angel, who stares after him questioningly. The boy apologizes. He replies that he cannot go with her. If her psyche was already in tatters upon being turned down, the boy's next words causes her soul to shatter with such a ferocity that she can almost hear it.

'It was a mistake to call out to you'.
