-Short summary-

Claire appears to cast her vote for the new kaiser mage, as well as her party. Meanwhile, Delaney reveals a small truth about his father.

-Long summary-

The silence in the room on Hydon's announcement is deafening. The successor had dropped out? So then the vote they had just taken was basically null and void, and not only that...they're down to just the three candidates Inman, Skye, and Libitina. Hydon turns to Lea and immediately commands her to take another vote. He hides the fraying threads of his patience with an almost serene poker face, and apologizes to the magicians gathered. The rules that Acheron had penned himself state that once the successor decides to drop out of the race they can no longer run or vote. Therefore, everyone of the votes from the previous ballot would be considered null and void. He reminds the voters who had declined to choose the last time around that they will have to choose someone eventually or risk further confinement. Furthermore, they are not to vote for someone who isn't physically present. So tossing out random candidates will also get them nowhere.

Delaney begins a smirk, but quickly bows his head when Hydon's glare is fixed on him. He very slowly asks the son of Acheron if he did anything to Iselia the successor? Considering that she had dropped out now, there was no real need to keep her name a secret any longer. Whether she is dead or alive she can no longer enter the race. Delaney puts on a blank face and replies in the negative, that the last time he had seen her she was very much alive...unhurt even. Hydon snarls and glances at Aithne and Willard. Despite looking as if he might breathe fire upon the three of them, he remains still in the center of the room, awaiting Lea's recount of the ballots. The Triad wouldn't bother killing Iselia, especially if they've already managed to get her to drop out of the race. There is not much worth in getting blood on one's hand when the objective is already cleared. It's just so frustrating. He had just a small, vain hope that Iselia would show up to Dover tower and put an end to this farce, but now they're stuck here even longer. Though at least since Libitina has a majority vote, there should be some solace to be found there right? Wrong. The last results speak volumes about her popularity.....despite being one of the Kaiser mage select, despite being the recognized 'DA expert', she had only been able to garner the base 40% of the vote that had been handed to her. No more, no less. Hell, it might have been less if there was a way to take some of the vote from her. With more people means more of a vote, but who knows what the Triad intends to do now that they're here?

He turns to Lea and barks at her to gather everyone's vote, including the triad. On hearing this Delaney stands up and within his eyes are a surprising amount of defiance. Hydon turns to him and the two glare one another down for a few moments until Lea steps between them to give Delaney his ballot. In a moment all three of the triad and the other magicians have their ballots and are begriming to vote again.

As this is going on Libby glances around nervously. The waiting is beginning to get to her, as she wonders if once again everyone would avoid voting on her. Truth be told, she only rushed here because of the slight chance that somebody with no business assuming the cloak of the kaiser mage could be sworn in, and it being her civic duty to ensure that sort of thing doesn't happen. She knew there was also a chance Larter would be there, and considering what he knows about her would find every reason to shut her down so that doesn't bother her so much. Still, she would be lying if she says his words had no effect on her. It had always been a distinct possibility in the back of her mind that the reason Acheron didn't come to save her from Larter was because he had what he needed from the baby who had been born with strong aptitude for DA. Even with that however, she wants to honor his memory, no, her memory of him as a benevolent man who had taken the time out to tutor her in her skills, and in some ways for better or worse made her the woman she is.

Suddenly footsteps coming down the stairs into the basement of the tower causes Lea to stop collecting ballots and the other magicians to glance in that direction. After a few minutes of melodic foot falls, a group of four comes into view; Claire, Aimend, Aine, and Dio. Claire glances around the room on her entry and notices Lea standing with the ballot. She smiles and notes that they got here just in time, and beckons to the others. A few magicians including Aicha stand up on seeing the goddesses and try to keep their slack jaws from dangling too far out. The goddesses are here? Sure it's only two of them, but they're actually here in the flesh?!

Aimend appreciates the attention and waves to the audience. Aine gives them a curt nod before approaching Claire and whispering hoarsely in her ear. This really isn't a good place for a pair with high profiles like theirs to be. Aimend asks everyone in a cheerful tone if they know who she and Aine are, and on everyone acknowledging this asks why they're so deadly quiet? Hydon clears his throat, both to calm himself down before the goddesses, and to regain control of the situation. Turning to Claire whom he rightfully deems as the ringleader of the group, he asks simply if they're here to vote as well. Claire looks up at him and nods, apologizing for the intrusion. Hydon raises an eyebrow as if he wants to inquire more about her, but instead points them to the stands and asks them to have a seat. Claire nods again and explains this to her party who seem to agree as well, although Aimend is bummed about having to sit up in the stands instead of basking in the center of attention, while Aine very quietly threatens to take Claire's life if she doesn't explain herself before this is all over. Sure she knows they had come here to vote or whatever, but in a confined room like this with a group of magicians who know very well who they are? This is just asking for trouble. Claire asks dryly what she expected from coming with her to Aerhaart, which gets the summer goddess to quiet down, but not without several protests under her breath. As the others make their way to their seats, Claire slowly makes her way to Libby. (Slowly because she is still not used to wearing the dress, further evidenced by her nearly tripping at least twice.) The two women stare at one another for a moment before Claire smiles and tells Libby not to worry, she doesn't intend on allowing her to get trapped in the prison known as 'kaiser mage'. She walks by her and gives a quick squeeze to her arm somewhat out of jest, but mostly out of support. Libby stands frozen to her spot, as if she's allowing all her anxiety to ooze out of her before moving again. She turns to Claire and with her signature half grin tells the ex goddess killer not to expect any thanks. Claire waves her hand in the air and follows her group to their seats. Lea slowly approaches Hydon, and on managing to fit her own jaw back in her mouth asks if the goddesses can vote too? Hydon glances over as if he intends to rebuke her question, but instead nods and asks gently if she will take the ballots again.

Aimend continues waving and asking the magicians if they would like her autographs even after they sit, until Aine smacks her in the back of the head. Dio glances around at the magicians and shakes his head, murmuring how sad it is that they've allowed magic to permeate their lives this much. Claire concurs and in response adds there can only be one kind of individual who can take the mantle...though as of right now, that sort of person isn't here. Dio shoves his hands in his pockets and leans back in reflection and hopes 'that sort of person' actually comes. Claire replies 'with both of our angel remnant, it increases the chance at least'.

The votes are re taken (to include the newcomers), and the results are as follow.

Undecided: 50%

Libitina Moors: 40%

Inman: 5%

Skye: 5%

Hydon has to restrain himself from jumping into the crowd at these results, and simply asks in a terse voice everyone WANTS to stay here longer. One magician answers him and states that now the election has been completely turned upside down due to the successor dropping out and the new people weighing in, and how it would take a monumental shift to change everyone's mind at this point. Hydon growls angrily until Delaney's laughter cuts into everyone's psyche and echoes throughout the room. He stands up and decries everyone's cowardice, pointing out that they're all only here to save themselves, not that he can blame them. They've only got the accounts of death from reports of wars or books to go with....but when someone has actually experienced it themselves, only then can they make decisions like these this with a clear head. Hydon orders him to shut up, but the teenager ignores him and strides to the center of the room. He then asks if everyone would like to know the true reason they're having an election to choose the kaiser mage rather than duking it out or something like that? Hydon's eye widen and to everyone's shock, (other than his two siblings who continue to look detached from these events), Delaney bursts into flames.

Hydon grits his teeth, and once again snarls at the teenager to shut his mouth. Delaney's laughter shakes the hall again, and he simply sweeps the flames aside, emerging completely unharmed by them. Aicha notes this, and realizes that he too has had a near death experience that has made magic completely useless against him, and further notes that this is the first time she has seen this phenomena in a man. Glancing up at the audience with a grin of pure maniacal glee, he asks the audience if they would like to take an intermission and allow him and his siblings to regale them on what their father; no, Acheron's true power is.
