-Short summary-

A familiar foe has come to take Van to his 'client'. Even with everyone's strength however, the farseer is taken, but is there an ulterior motive?

-Long summary-

Guy, Van and Reid ready themselves against the man who suddenly appeared in their midst. The man warmly regards the three and asks how they've been doing. Kani asks Guy who the man is, and Van answers that his name is Alekto. He seems to be some kind of beast tamer, who's charge are faceless creatures who seem to be impervious to most magics and have an affinity for tracking farseers. Alekto confirms this and requests Van to come with him. He has a 'client' who wants to see the boy immediately. For one reason or another, his client seems to believe that Van is a child of raw possibility, and there is a job that requires expertise that only he can deliver.

Reid draws his sword and replies that they're quite attached to their farseer, and would be heartbroken to give him up, and Guy adds his own retort -Alekto had already lost to them once. Kani also draws her staff, ready to join the fray.

Alekto sighs and wonders why they can't just hand him over. Although he'd really, really, really like to kill him, his client specifically requested that he bring the boy in alive. Miracles being what they are, they may even meet one day, should his client's job be completed.

Having enough back and forth, Reid, Kani and Guy all rush at Alekto, but one of the beasts with him strikes first, causing the ground underneath the attack to shatter. Guy and Reid counter attack sending one beast flying into another, which Kani follows up with a seal that keeps them from moving. A few more 'faceless' bound from the entrance the first few created and resume the attack. Candle uses her 'heat' to warp the floor and keep the beasts at bay, but they soon break free and lunge at her.  Reid smacks them back as Guy tosses one overhead.  Van watches the chaos and realizing that this fight won't end as long as he's around quickly makes his decision to leave before his friends get injured.  He darts around one of the 'faceless' and jumps out of an entrance one of them created. Kani and Reid object, but Van yells 'everything will be okay' until he's out of earshot.

Alektos grits his teeth in annoyance but still cordially bows and excuses himself. Kani prepares to go after him, but one of the 'faceless' nearly tackles her. Guy grabs it by the scruff of it's collar and forces it back, but Van and Alekto are already out of sight.

Van keeps an even speed for a bit before stopping and turning around. Alekto stops in his tracks too and the two silently glare at each other. The beast trainer notes that Van seems a lot weaker than he was last time they met...younger even. Van explains this away as 'circumstances beyond his control', which puzzles the beast trainer, but he doesn't persist in questioning the boy. He instead demands that he cease and desist, and come with him quietly. The farseer smirks and asks what he'll do if he doesn't? If he wanted to kill his friends, he would have already.....but the fact of the matter is, they're too strong. This is something Van is painfully aware of, to the point that he hates himself. He also knows that it is not to Alekto's favor to have a drawn out battle with them, so he instead offers himself up to his opponent. Alekto is less than pleased to take a favor from the boy that had soundly defeated him before, but the client had requested Van as 'unhurt as possible', and if he didn't want to be reprimanded even MORE for failing to capture fareseers back when he had assaulted GMAGY he had better be able to produce results this time.  He accepts Van's deal, and then draws a symbol in mid air. The symbol glows and then stretches until it is long enough to cover both he and Van, and then lowers itself over them. As it touches their bodies, they begin to disappear. Alekto allays Van's fears by telling him that this is a simple teleportation spell, and they're being taken straight to the client.

It is at this point that Kani appears, running towards the two. She dives arm outstretched grab Van, who curiously doesn't respond. There isn't any time for her to react however, since the spell completes and the two disappear from sight.  Guy, Reid, and Candle catch up and ask where Van is and Kani responds that Alekto got him and left. Guy and Reid curse their bad luck, but Kani continues that she tried to reach out to Van but he made no effort to reach back, almost as if....as if...

Van and Alektos reappear in front of what seems to be a cathedral surrounded by barren landscape. Van glances around, and asks Alekto where they are now. He turns to the cathedral and states to Van that isn't important. His only real concern should be what the 'client' wants of him. Van readies himself, all the while marveling how things are going to plan. Alekto is working for someone who's after farseers, which means if he can confront this person, he and his friends would already be one step ahead. He would have to hope for a miracle when it comes to his magic, but he had operated on far less before.
