-Short summary-

Claire convinces the Goddesses to take up the mantle of revenge by following her, as Van and his group deal with the repercussions of the farseer's choice to take up magic. Their rapport is cut short by the invasion of a very familiar mystery man...

-Long summary-

After the envoy leaves, Claire acknowledges that she has plenty of things to do now that she has realized her power as a deity. She then nonchalantly asks Aimend and Aine to follow her, and Aimend is more than happy to help her 'friend'. Aine flatly refuses however, saying she had her fill of servitude while working under 'winter'. Why should she ally with Claire? Claire thoughtfully concedes that there really isn't a reason to follow her, and honestly it's not as if she needs them or anything. She just figured since they have nothing better to do....

Aine rages, and Claire reveals she was mostly kidding. She has things she needs to do, and would like their help. Aimend quickly asks if she means reuniting with Van, in which Claire replies that there are a few things that need to be done before she can do that. That is however, one of her higher priorities. She then proposes that the goddesses follow her not out out of boredom, but under the guise of revenge. The summer goddess is intrigued by this, and asks Claire what she means. Claire states matter of fact that either the deities or the sentient beings had granted them with immortality. If it weren't for that, they could have lead normal lives and not be living in a place and time far from their families. If the sentient beings are behind their immortality, following her would be the fastest path to revenge.

Aine then asks what Claire plans to do if it turns out that the deities were behind their current situation. Claire states without repose that if it was her people who granted them the curse of eternal life, then she will fight Aine to the death as exchange for they have done to her. Of course Claire doesn't intend on not defending herself, but if Aine should have the upper hand then that will be justice served. Aine scoffs and admits that Claire knows how to appeal to her merciful side. She'll take the offer, but only if she gets to modify it a bit.....she wants the right to be able to fight Claire to the death any time she should wish. Claire without any hesitation agrees, but advises the summer goddess to come bringing her all or she will die. Aine agrees and the two ladies shake, Aimend is overjoyed that the trio will be staying together, which prompts Aine and Claire to ask if she even heard their 'deal'. Aimend confirms that she has, but everything will be fine if the sentient beings are behind their immortality right? Aine and Claire look at each other, and wish for a second that they could look at things this simply.

Meanwhile Van awakens after his 'memory' awakening from Candle is done. Kani, Guy, Reid and Candle ask if he's okay, and he states that for the most part he feels the same, although that's simply for the moment. He goes on to admit that he doesn't understand how people without magic can live in such an unfair world where they're so powerless. He has only had the ability to utilize agape for a few moments, but he already feels a slight bit more confident in himself. Guy and Reid once again ask if he's okay, and once he confirms both men smack him in the face.

Kani is aghast, while Candle only regards the three silently. Guy and Reid angrily ask Van what he thought he was doing by going against their plan. What good will come from Van being suicidal? Sure in the scheme of things, if this plan does work, it will be one death in the face of millions, but what does that matter to them? There's no such thing as a person who is happy when another dies. It's either apathy or sadness. People would either mourn the loss of Van or care nothing about it because they don't know him personally. They however DO know him personally, and even if the world were to be saved because of his sacrifice it would be a hollow victory....their best friend would be dead.

Van yells back at them that they don't understand anything because they're already so strong. All of them. Guy's physical strength, Reid's mastery of the blade, Kani's knowledge of agape's ins and outs, and Candle being a sentient being....He's only able to watch them continue to drift farther away from him. When Kani returned to them bandaged and battered after her fight with Candle, he was thrust into a inner turmoil that still threatens to eat him now. He couldn't protect her, not from Kutkh, not from Pajari, not from anyone. He had power briefly, but now he's back to being weak, and his friends are the ones who have to suffer for it. Van tearfully asks if it's wrong for him to want to do something for the people that matter to him. He isn't trying to save the world for everyone else, but for the people who mean so much to him that if he had more one life he would lay it down for them without complaint. The people who had stayed with him before Kutkh showed him how narrow his former goal of being reunited with his mother was. The ones that had picked him up when he fell over and over again. The ones who went out of their way to repay a debt to him....the one who had introduced him to the truth, the one he loves....

It is during this outburst from the farseer that the windows to the building they're in shatter and several of the faceless humanoid monsters that had invaded GMAGY back when Van, Reid and Guy were there crawl into the room from them. Guy, Reid and Van are on guard as the familiar master of these monsters strides into the room and informs them that a 'unique existence' like a farseer that can use magic cannot be ignored.
