-Short summary-
The envoy from above returns to the land of the deities unable to understand why both Akariel and now Claire are siding with the humans over their own. It has been said that the first humans on earth were actually angels, so he surmises that humans are deities that have been somehow stripped of their inability to die. He decides to ask 'Deus' if this is true, meanwhile a deity is summoned and seemingly killed by a mysterious figure.
-Long Summary-
The envoy returns to his homeland, completely confused and frustrated at Claire's choice. Sure, Akariel had always been somewhat of an anti-angel, having feelings more akin to humans. Believing things such as 'the ends not always justifying the means', and the importance of individual human life. Though how could the most precious one, his most precious one decide to choose humanity over eternal life? She could have chosen to forsake death if she had come home! What could living down there among the humans that had hunted and persecuted her for so long give her?
He then recalls what the scholars known as 'white choir' had once surmised. Although it is easy to believe that humans become angels when they die, it is actually different. It isn't impossible for a soul that has lead a particularly pious life to be accepted into the hall of deism, but that would mean forsaking desire, a decisively human trait. As far as the choir knew, humans had a separate afterlife, and angels were organisms that came into existence by a different means completely.
What the choir had offered instead is the idea that some angels had in fact gone down to earth back when it was just inhabited by magic, and the events that are leading up to another world end scenario began. This is a lot to take in however, for then what would it mean for the other times the scenario occurred? Would these too be the fault of the deities? The loss of so many human lives, so many memories so many....
The envoy decides to ask Deus, the oldest and most knowledgeable of all the gods. He fears what kind of answer he will receive, but it will be necessary in order to understand the psyche within all of the deities and angels. Even if they would not be affected by the world end scenario personally, he would not be able to live with himself should it be their fault it occurred in the first place.
Meanwhile an angel is summoned close to the 'event horizon' (the area between the boundary of earth and the land of deities. The angel thinks it may be a zealot hoping to start a religion, and is ready to give the summoner a lecture when it is apparently killed and absorbed instead. The summer cackles and murmurs that with 'these new found powers, why should I stop here?' The person then proceeds up the summoning circle to the land of the deities....
