Greyashe chapter 256 is entitled 'Memories off'.

Next chapter 257: Memories off. II

Summaries page.

-Short summary-

After losing his ability to summon his strongest ability 'gratitude', Van is at a loss for what he should do now.  Candle points out that he gives up too easily. Guy is amused and reveals that she and Claire are both really similar, right down to how they use 'flames'. Kani picks up on this conversation and realizes that Candle's power may have something to do with memories as well as heat, and with this the sentient being informs her companions that she is formulating a plan.

-Long summary-

Van agonizes over what to do now that he can't use 'gratitude'. His older form gave him just enough control over agape to perform the attack, but now he's back to being to weak to master it. Unfortunately with the other two sentient beings openly waging war, he can't just wait to age into that appearance naturally. Candle muses that humans aren't so great, since they give up so easily. Guy laughs and asks Kani if she can remember how 'Burnqueen' would often talk haughty nonsense. Kani tries not to laugh, but finds herself amused by this too. Candle doesn't like being compared to someone she doesn't even know and begins to bicker with the two. Reid comments that memories are a funny thing. He doesn't know much about the ex-goddess killer either, but when they talk about her through pleasurable memories, even he can understand that she is a person with a kind heart.

Van agrees, and then changes the subject to his eye which has suddenly become more.....clear? The boy is unable to really describe what's going on with his farseeing powers. He can now see things clearly by just thinking or saying them. Whereas before a memory might have been hazy at best, he can now remember things in his conscious mind clearly.

It's during their squabbling that Guy points out how 'Burnqueen' used to use fire as well, which Candle corrects. She uses heat. She doesn't need to use fire. Kani begins to think after this comment, and realizes that perhaps Candle's powers aren't limited to just 'heat', and may in fact have some ties with 'memories'. After all, it was through Kani's memories that Candle's perception on humans had begun to change, right?

Candle realizes this and with a cocky grin declares that she has already started thinking of a plan, and that for any one plan the humans can come up with, she'll have one hundred.
