This is a summary of Greyashe Episode 28.

OP: OUTRUNNER.

Insert: the dropouts.

ED: Chime

Chapters covered: 60.

They named her 'Spring' because it had been unnaturally warm when they met her. She was hidden underneath a tree still dripping with dew from the last time the sky had cried. The last time she cried. She had seen her brothers maybe 50 years ago, back when they were strapping young men. Now they were decrepit and senile, unable to recognize her.

Although even if their minds had kept their streamlined polish, they probably wouldn't believe what's going on.  She doesn't age, she can't age. She remains the same, while they, no everyone gets older and moves on.

Then they found her. They followed the rain, for when she cried it did too. They told her that she was like them, in tune with the elements, born with an agape level much more than the average human. She asks who they are, and they respond with the name given to them by the people. They are goddesses, and now she is one too.

Aimend stands up after Claire's attack, and twirls her umbrella a bit. She admits that the goddess killer is much more crafty than she would have credited her with. Claire can hardly take this as a compliment however, and tells the spring goddess to stop the rain over Van immediately.  Aimend once again tells Claire that she cannot, and this only serves to anger the flame user even more. Stratus asks if the spring goddess needs any help, but Aimend turns him down. She thinks to herself how she's the only one of the four who is young enough to still remember her life before becoming a goddess, and even then she was protected by everyone. From her two older brothers to her parents, she never once got to see the scenery beyond their broad shoulders. Everything about being a goddess is saddening, from losing those you hold dear to age, to both being the boon and scapegoat for all that's wonderful and tragic in the world. Yet the one thing she had gained from her impossibly high agape is a sense of freedom. For once she was allowed to see the scenery, and would do anything she can to stay where the view is exsquite.

Claire is already ready with another flame tackle, but Aimend defends herself with a ball of water that acts as a shield around her.  The fire user draws back, seeking an opening to attack from, but Aimend surprises her by drawing the water shield in with her umbrella, and then firing it as high pressure water bullets. Claire glances back as one stray shot shatters a tree, and quickly realizes that being on the reciving end of one of those attacks would proove lethal.  Taking a deep breath, she returns fire with fire, desolving Aimend's shots one by one. Claire then makes a mad dash to Aimend when she has to reload, hoping to catch her off guard and finish things quickly.  She knows that the longer this fight drags out, the more she stands to lose. Aimend catches her off guard however, as she extends her umbrella, and trips the goddess killer up and then follows with another guyser where she lands. Claire manages to avoid a direct hit, but the enchanted water damages her all the same. Aimend is reloaded and begins to fire again, but Claire is ready for this, and dodges each bullet while drawing closer. Finally the two women are in a fist to fist to umbrella showdown, grappling back and forth. Claire's size allows her to skillfully rebound off the umbrella and try to kick Aimend in the face, but she simply draws back and fires a few more pressure shots upward.  Claire fires a quick shot downward, and steam explodes onto the scene. This keeps Aimend from seeing Claire come towards her with a kick to the torso, and so she's hit. Not to be beaten, she extends the umbrella at a high speed, and this sends Claire flying. She follows up with several more gysers which all miss, but Claire still gets drenched by the water. Undaunted, she breathes in and sends more fire toward Aimend.

Stratus and Van watch the battle from the sidelines, the boy enamored with the offensive properties of magic. Snapping to attention, he appeals to 'Cloudy' to stop the two from fighting, at least if he can't stop the rain from falling. Stratus glares at Van, asking why he remembers that name of all things. He then says that he won't step in, as Aimend has not asked him to. To step into a fight where he's not been invited is a sign of disrepect to his friend.  It suggests that he doesn't have faith that she can come out of this the winner. Van realizes this, and begs Claire not to lose herself in this fight.

Claire's thoughts during this scuffle are back to her days as the goddess killer. She was created to do this right? Fighting Aimend and the other three goddesses to the death is the only meaning in life she's allowed to have. Yet it feels empty to fight against her like this. How could she call herself a Goddess, and go to a concert when there are so many people suffering? Claire feels both guilt and righteous indignation. She was the one who personally dealt with the goddess believers, and she isn't asking for a pardon for her crimes. However where was this scatter brain when they needed her? If this is how the Goddesses behave, then...then...this world doesn't need them. Claire will see to it that this fight ends with one less season this year.

Kani has picked up the items she came looking for, Kingston giving her a discount because they go so far back. She thanks him, and he thanks her for visiting. The two share a platonic hug, and Kani is about to leave with Guy when Kingston remembers something suddenly. He asks Kani when she's going to get her broom license, since she's of age now. Guy (who had been minding his buisness outside) asks what that is, and Kani responds that Brooms are how WITCHES get around. Before they literally used brooms, but nowadays that name is a blanket that covers any apparatus that a WITCH uses to get around. Kani hadn't been thinking about it lately, but with this prompt from Kingston, she decides to work on it.

Outside Kani takes what seems to be a wind charm out of her pocket. Guy asks what it does, and she explains that it tracks magic usage. Van's eye essentally does the same thing, but when there are times that he's not around, they should have their own way to find out if there's a magic user nearby. Guy stares at it for a moment, and then it begins to spin around quickly. Kani is shocked that it worked almost immediately, and tries to figure out what this means. Apparently, two people are throwing around high levels of magic, and from the random pulses of magic energy, it seems that it's a fight.

Guy is off as soon as he hears that there's a fight going on without him. Kani starts to stop him, but notices something odd. She hadn't yet said where the fight was taking place, yet Guy had dashed off in the correct direction. Van hadn't said anything about him being able to sense or use magic, so how could he know where to go? Kani decides to think of this later, and chases after Guy, asking him if he remembers the promise he made to Van.

The two run past the R and R, where the Rock Metal Rock!! Concert is taking place. The MC gets the audience riled up with some call and response, before introducing the formally-indies-now-signed, band 'Right Wrong Turn.' They will be preforming their first major single 'the dropouts' for the first time ever today! The band appears nervous on stage, but then one lone fan whistles and claps, leading to an avalanche of applause. This seems to energize the newbie band, and they begin to play their song, a rock medley about regretful and ignorant youth....

The song provides an impromptu soundtrack to Claire and Aimend's fight. The two are far enough away from the R and R that their fight doesn't interrupt the festivties, but close enough that the song reverberates inbetween each one of their movements. Claire flicks a flame at Aimend who responds with a four pronged guyser. The fire is immediately put out, resulting in more steam. The spring goddess is more careful this time, scanning the area in hopes of catching Claire in another hidden attack. She puts herself into a swing of her umbrella, and manages to catch Claire's side as she prepared to attack from her left. Claire is still close, and launches a fireball at Aimend, the explosion causing more steam to hiss foward. The two leap out of the steam clouds, and begin grappling again, Claire landing a few blows into the Goddess's stomach and face. Aimend is no slouch, and hits Claire straight up in the air with her umbrella, and then using a water spout, delivers a headbutt at blinding speed. The two fall to the ground, and after catching their breaths continue their battle.

Kani finally catches up with Guy, and sees him simply standing and watching something. She asks what he's doing, and he reluctantly says that this is a fight that he can't join in. Kani peers over and notices Van being rained on, and the literal representation of water and fire doing battle in front of her. She rubs her eyes in disbelief, and realizes that she recongnizes the cloud that is giving Van an unwelcome shower. That's Cumulus Stratus! The familiar of the goddess Aimend! Which would mean that the person Claire is fighting is....

Without warning Kani cheers for Aimend, telling her to do her best. Van realizes Kani's there, and calls out to her. Kani  however is on cloud nine. As a WITCH, she's always been told that her duty is to serve the Goddesses, but to actually meet one was something she thought she'd never do in her whole life! One can literally see the stars in her eyes as she cheers Aimend on. Guy, Stratus and Van all wonder if she realizes that her friend is the one fighting the goddess....

Both fighters are soaking wet with both sweat and rain. Blood has also come out to play, and dances on their foreheads. Claire has grown tired of this game, and realizes that there's only one way to end this, no matter how reluctant she is to utillze that method. She turns away from Aimend and begins to run in the opposite direction. The spring Goddess prepares another round to fire into Claire, and begins to blast away. Kani keeps cheering loudly for Aimend, but Guy chimes in saying that the fight (as glorious as it is,) has already been decided. Kani is incredulous, asking Guy if he really thinks that a Goddess would lose a fight. Guy points out that there's only one great decider in a fight, and that's experience. A guy with a gun against one who's bare handed might seem like it's a done deal, but if the guy with the gun doesn't know how to use it, the one who's barehanded still stands a chance of victory...especially if he's got lots of hand to hand combat experience. Claire may have an elemental disadvantage, but she has much more battle experience than Aimend, and it shows through her movements and attacks.

Claire keeps dodging the pressurized water bullets the best she can. Unfortunately the damage she has taken has started slowing her down, and her flame no longer has the range that it used to have. She's knicked by a few bullets, but doesn't stop moving. Aimend steps back, and prepares a guyser, but Claire is undaunted. She launches fire through the attack, and then charges through the steam. With her strength drained, she can't summon a flame, but knocks Aimend down, and breaks her umbrella in the process. When the Spring Goddess tries to get up, Claire puts a foot on her chest, and with the best threatening gaze she can muster, tells Aimend not to move.

Right Wrong Turn gets a thunderous applause as their preformance of 'the dropouts' comes to an end.

Kani bemoans her heroine being defeated, and begs her not to give up. Aimend asks Claire weakly if she plans on killing her now that she's won. Van notices that she doesn't seem afraid to die, but at the same time she's not accepting death as the only possibility either. Aimend says that she remembers her past, maybe too well. The other Goddesses have lived so long that they've forgotten parts of themselves, and she doesn't want to do that. So in a sense she wants to die, so that her memories will stay precious to her.

However....

The world as it is, even full of stryfe is a wonderful place. She's made so many friends who like the same music she does, enjoy her company, and all without even knowing that she is The Aimend. So for them, she wants to keep living. Bitter at herself for being unable to choose, Aimend places her life in the hands of the Goddess killer.

Claire berates her for being an indesisve fool, and refuses to do as she is told. She tells Aimend that a long time ago she might have killed her without having to be told. However now there is no space in her heart for hatred, only for those she cares about....her friends. She then turns to Stratus, and offers to keep the fact that she beat a Goddess hush hush if he stops the waterworks over Van. Stratus then realizes what Claire has done. One thing that really hurts a legend is an 'inconvinent' truth such as this one. He is under orders from Ancasta herself that if Aimend's legend is in danger, that he is to stop at once. Even if there's a small chance that someone would believe what happened today, a chance is still a chance. Claire had fought not for her own self righteous agenda, but because this is the easiest way to stop the rain AND keep the Goddess alive. He agrees, and changes to his human form, leaving behind a very wet Van.

Aimend sits up as Claire makes her way to her friends. She processes what Claire said, and comes to the conclusion that.....Claire too wants to be her friend. She thanks Claire for extending her friendship, something that she wasn't trying to do at all. Aimend is too happy to really notice Claire's objections, as she states that it's okay for her to be friends with 'Claire' even if she can't be friends with the 'Goddess killer.' Claire continues to insist that she wants nothing to do with her, but Aimend won't hear of it. She notes her broken umbrella, but now that she and Claire are friends, she's sure that she'll pay her back. Claire tries to fry her, but her flame has fizzled out as the enchanted water has taken it's toll. She's brought to her knees, which causes Van to run over and ask if she's okay. Claire feels a bit woozy, but is otherwise fine. Kani asks Aimend if she knows her, and after some thought (and prodding) Aimend says cheerfully that she likes the WITCHES because they're cool. Kani nearly faints from this endorcement, and thanks Aimend endlessly. Stratus then alerts Aimend that Ancasta has just arrived at home. Aimend curses again, and promises Van that they'll hang out again some other time. She apologizes to everyone, and makes a special promise to her new friend Claire that she'll be watching over them. Claire tells her to get lost in a rather tactful way, but Aimend doesn't pick up on it. Using her broken umbrella, she summons a cloud using it's tail to float upward until she and Cloudy are out of sight.

Claire asks Van if he's okay, and he nods without looking at her. Van has a look of determination in his eyes. Today had been a good learning experience for him. He would need strength equal to a Goddesses's in order to protect everyone he holds dear. Now at least he knows what he's up against. Claire looks at her determined friend, and quietly remarks how his expression could be read as honest enthusiasm.....

.....Or a sign of someone who has already begun to fall for the sweet and damned whispers of power.
