This is a summary of Greyashe Episode 13.

OP: OUTRUNNER

ED: Sunshine.

Chapters Covered: Second half of 23-26.

Van is in the bathroom staring into the mirror in silence. The water runs, the sound of the water dripping reminding him of the intense vision he had when he touched the hooded man's plate. Everyone was going to die, and that man was going to do it. He wonders what he can do to stop the oncoming onslaught, until he's shaken by someone calling his name. Claire is surprisingly in the bathroom with him, tagging along after she had seen his expression earlier. Apparently she's been keeping a close eye on Van, even though they haven't been in close contact. Van recoils, explaining to Claire that this is the Men's restroom. Claire replies that she's always thought it redundant to have two rooms for the same function. She then notes that Van must have seen something, and orders him to start talking.

Meanwhile, Reid and the hooded man resume their battle, the pulsating beats of the club giving their vibrating pulses a reason to dance. Reid ignores the pain from the first attack, and swings forward with another sword. He uses the blunt end to avoid killing his target, but the hooded man has other plans. He grabs the blunt edge, just to meet Reid's free fist. He stumbles backwards a bit, Reid then continues his combo with a swift kick to his knees. The man is faster and weaves around until he is behind the swords man, and then strikes his forearms together like one lighting a match. Reid immediately feels the same pain coming from within him that he felt earlier, but doesn't back down. The hooded man rears back his palm and hits Reid in the chest, causing him to stumble back towards his bag. The man dashes at him, laughing and asking Reid about his earlier statement concerning losing to nobodies. Reid grins, and tosses a sword from his bag. The man is easily able to dodge it, but this was in fact to his disadvantage. Reid is already behind him where the sword spins in mid air. He reveals that he's got a nice collection of swords, all of which have different effects. Although the Flash step sword he's using can't kill....it's a nice tool for surprising the enemy. Wherever Reid throws this sword, he can literally teleport to that spot in one step. The hooded man reveals that Reid will die, as he lost this battle the moment he walked into the club and breathed in the air. Undaunted, Reid smacks him with the Flash step, and the hooded man is forced to make acquaintance with the opposite wall. The man does the same match lighting motion, and Reid again feels the same pain. He starts to realize what the hooded man's magic is, and quickly takes out a dagger like object. He stabs himself with it, and after a couple of minutes pulls it out. By now both men are a bloody mess, but it's obvious that Reid can't take much more before he blacks out. The man takes his chance after seeing Reid stumble slightly, and runs at him delivering a crushing head butt. Reid starts to fall over, but grabs the man's collar, and flips him backwards. The man turns to attack again, but Reid is already one step ahead of him, and using a smaller sword slashes at his arm. This surprises him enough that Reid is able to follow up by throwing the dagger he had stabbed himself with earlier into the injury that he had just caused.

Reid explains that he's mostly figured out his opponent's magic. It has something to do with the carbon monoxide that he expels when he breathes. It's laced with something that seeps into a person's bloodstream, and by using his hooded clothes as an incantation, he causes the magic in the person's bloodstream to self destruct, therefore giving the image of the body rejecting itself. He chides the hooded man for giving him some rather obvious clues, and then laments the fact that instead of sharing blood with a beautiful woman tonight, he got stuck with a deranged man. The hooded stranger realizes where Reid is going with his lecture. The dagger containing his blood has now been injected into his own bloodstream, which means if he uses his incantation again, they will both die. The hooded man unfortunately isn't at all bothered by this. In fact he seems more excited. He takes off his hood and reveals a face that is scarred and burned. He reveals that his magic didn't become enamored with him simply because he was devoted by words alone. His magic finally answered him after he revealed his devotion by means of self mutilation. The fact of the matter is, even if he dies now it doesn't matter as the only way the magic will respond to him is if he continues to show devotion by sacrificing himself. Reid comments on how he thought that real women were pretty evil. The man smiles and asks Reid if he'd like to be a part of their lovely mass murder.

Meanwhile Claire has decided on what they should do about the hooded man.....run away. She figures since it's not their problem there's no need to get involved. Van is dismayed that she'd make such a decision. (And with a straight face.) Claire reminds him that they're both wanted, her as the Goddess killer, and he as the last member of a lost tribe. Van shrugs this off and prepares to set off alone. He declares to Claire that a journey where they travel and ignore others is no better than staying home and letting the world go by. Claire begrudgingly agrees to help at this point, citing that if she were to turn him down after that declaration, she'd look like the bad guy. The two head out to the dance floor, and find that it is jam packed. The duo agree that they don't want to start a ruckus, so they need to find out how to get to the man without alerting others. Van's eye doesn't seem to work at first, but then he picks up on the waitress who had talked to Reid earlier. When they ask her about Reid and his work, she's surprised that Van knows so much...but reluctant to offer any other information. Van assures her that they won't let him die; begging her to trust him.

The hooded man is dizzy from his blood loss, and as he teeters back and forth, he laughs at how pathetic Reid's siege was. The swordsman curses at his own incompetence, and tries without any success to stand up. Suddenly though, the man's laughter stops and he suddenly stands still. He begins to ask who's there, and barks at them to show themselves. Reid figures that the blood loss has caused the man to go crazy, but Van then appears in the stairwell with a serious expression. He proclaims that he will defeat the crazed man, and that no one will die tonight. The man snarls, and says out loud that he should have killed Van when he had the chance, but he had no idea that the boy was this proficient with his powers. Reid stares at the boy for a moment, and instantly knows that Van is a Farseer, recalling their eyes from his journeys. The man is about to lunge at Van, but Claire causes him to trip with her sudden appearance. The man is surprised to see her, and shudders at the sight of the goddess killer in the flesh. Claire thinks that he's afraid to have met her, but Van reveals that he's not afraid, but intensely happy....that he'll be able to claim the goddess killer as one of his victims. Claire breathes fire into her hands and produces fireballs that she hurls at her opponent, which in turn explodes in his face. Reid surmises that his breath must react to her fire, but chides Van at not realizing this sooner. The man's face spurts blood, some of which lands on Claire instantly exploding. Van realizes that his blood is so potent that it can cause this effect on contact. Reid then calls to the boy and hands him a sword. Van turns down his offer, stating that he doesn't want to kill. Reid assures him that this blade can't take anyone's life, and tells Van to throw it.

Claire wakes up to see the man standing over her. She's about to breathe fire again, but remembers what happened the last time. Just when it looks like she's out of luck however, Van appears above her, seeming to fly! He grabs the blade in mid air and swings at the man, who in turn splashes the boy with some of his blood. The explosion causes Van to grimace in pain, but he keeps his trajectory straight and slams the man with the Flash step as hard as he can. Reid watches this and notes that Van has 'a good arm', and extremely good focus. The man slams into the wall and slumps over, just as Van makes a hard landing of his own. After assuring a worried Claire that he's okay, he stands up and limps over to give Reid his sword and his thanks. Reid struggles to his feet as well, and tells Van that he and Claire should escape. He tells them that in his experience, when a room is trashed this badly, questions rarely stop at 'are you okay?', and therefore it wouldn't be long until their true dainties are known. He then bends on one knee and asks Van's name. Van hesitates, but tells him. Reid then bows his head like a man being knighted, and tells Van that in his business, favors come few and far between....and that he owes Van big time. The boy has no time to tell Reid not to worry about it as people have started coming into the basement. Using Reid's guidance, the duo find a cellar escape, and do just that. The waitress from earlier appears with two police officers that she had called after worrying about Van and Claire. She sees Reid and after berating him for being a fool, thanks the goddesses that he's alive. When she asks what happened to the two children, he states that he saw them for a minute, but they ran away after seeing that he had things handled. With a smile he adds that he'll be sure to tell them that she asked about their safety, because he's sure that this isn't the last time that they'll run into each other.
