This is a summary of Greyashe Episode 12.

OP: OUTRUNNER

ED: Sunshine.

Chapters covered: 21- first half of 23.

The night club meets restaurant 'No Heaven' prepares to open its doors to the public one fine Saturday night. Among the waitresses and bartenders prepping for business is a surprising sight. Two children are apparently part of the help! They are none other than Van and Claire, and it seems for now they're managed to get a job working as servers at the club. One of the waitresses makes a comment about the two of them being there which Claire takes a surprising amount of offense to. She doesn't want to be grouped with Van as a child. The boy wonders why she wants to be seen as an adult so badly when she IS a child, but is relieved that Claire seems to be back to her old self. Since their encounter with Den, she had been very morose barely speaking to Van, while becoming overly dependent on him. She wouldn't allow him to leave her eyesight for even a moment, and had seemingly let down her invincible guard. Van is more than happy to be her shoulder to lean on, but he himself feels that he owes her for being the catalyst for him to see the world outside of his hometown. He glances down at Claire's feet, the boots that she's now wearing that are covering them from the elements.

A day earlier, Van woke up to find that Claire had fallen asleep in his lap. He recalls that this is only the second time that she's allowed herself to be seen sleeping in front of him. Rather than wake her up however, he glances down at her bare feet, realizing that although she now had clothes to wear, he hadn't been able to afford shoes. Claire isn't one to complain, and had been traveling barefoot the whole time. Van thinks to himself how if he could at least afford her shoes; it would be a great show of appreciation to her. For that, he'd need a job however.....so the two travel to the nearest employment agency, and Van earnestly asks for work. At first the attendant wants to send him away, stating that he's too young, but when she notices Claire with him she immediately assumes that she is his little sister and that, the two of them are orphans and he is trying to support her. Van is initially against lying to the lady, but concedes that this is for the greater good. Claire nearly ruins the deception when she scoffs at the thought of being his little sister. Van is quickly able to defuse the situation, and because he's willing to do anything is sent to the nightclub. The owner immediately takes a liking to the young man's work ethic, and while he can have him bartending because of his age, he figures the two can at least help serve food.

The night begins without incident, and while Claire is out on the floor, Van is asked to help with dishes. While the two are working, a fellow waitress strikes up a conversation with Claire. She asks where Claire is from, as her accent is unusual for people in this side of the country. Claire declines to answer, but the waitress doesn't give in. She then asks what Claire will do with herself once she grows up. Claire once again takes a surpring amount of offence to this, and claims that she's already grown. The waitress rephrases her question, and asks what Claire will do in the future. Claire's caught up by this question, as she never really considered this.

Meanwhile a man with a sling bag walks into the establishment and takes a seat. A waitress that is his acquaintance asks what he's here for, and he jokingly says that he's a workaholic. The waitress seems to understand the true meaning behind this and asks if they should evacuate. The man stands up and tells her not to worry, that he'll take care of this without incident. He then stares out past the crowd to a man in particular that has been sitting at a table alone. The sling bag man narrows his eyes, and adds that while he dislikes having to do his job, he does enjoy a world bathed in sunlight. The light can't reach the entire world at once however, which means that there is perpetually one side in the shade. He notes that being in the shade is the only thing he knows how to do, and then departs the waitresses’ company.

A hooded man has been sitting at the table all night and smiles as people walk by. Van is the one to bring him his food, and the hooded man is surprised to see a child working at the restaurant. When Van turns around to address someone else, he reaches out to him, but then Van is called by the owner and goes to him. The man realizes quickly what Van is, but figures that he's probably too young to understand what is about to happen. He then gets up and walks into the lower part of the restaurant, a rest area that is currently uninhabited. The sling bag man soon follows after, and the two disappear from sight.

In the rest area, the two men meet. The hooded man immediately recognizes the other man and calls him 'Reid the Infinite Blade.' Reid acknowledges this, and mocks the hooded man. Asking him if he's just not very good with social situations. The hooded man chuckles and comments how popular he must be if the famous Reid has come to pay him a visit. Reid drops his sling bag and draws a sword from it. He states that the hooded man is keeping him from a normal date that will end in normal failure just like normal, and asks what the hooded man will do to repay him. When the hooded man doesn't answer, Reid charges in and the two grapple for a bit. Reid gains the upper hand on the hooded man, but the hooded man simply laughs and states that everyone will die anyway. Reid asks him what he means, and the hooded man says that he finally got his magic to recuperate his feelings. He metaphorically compares it to a man proposing in public to his wife, and says that he just wants to know what that feeling is like. He then asks Reid if he seriously thought that all he was doing the whole evening was sitting at the table like a fool.

Before he can answer though, Reid feels a powerful impact coming from inside his body, and he is brought to his knees. The hooded man laughs and berates him for running into a battle that he can't win. Reid isn't quite done yet, and says to the hooded man that although he knows his name, contrarily Reid doesn't know the name of the person he is fighting. He then states that it's against his contract to be defeated by nobodies, and then prepares a short sword from a sheath on his belt. The hooded man sneers and asks just how stupid one has to be to die.

Van has returned to the hooded man's table to pick up his plate, only when he does he immediately drops it and watches the plate explode into pieces on the floor. He's too dazed to even hear the waitress asking if he's okay, as the malicious intent he felt from the hooded man's plate is overwhelming. Not only that, but thanks to his eye, Van knows that this dangerous individual has a plan in motion. A plan that will leave everyone in the restaurant dead by morning.
