This is a summary of Greyashe episode one.

OP: OUTRUNNER.

ED: Sunshine.

Chapters covered: 1

The episode opens with a young girl escaping a castle, and being pursued by the guards. Her name is unknown, but soon we find that she is what is known as the 'goddess killer', a creation by the heretic group 'Challengers of Eternity' to destroy the four goddesses of the seasons that rule over the land. The girl however has become tired of her life in captivity and decides to escape and experience freedom. She does after some difficulty, and apparently disappears forever....

Four years later, in the continent of eternal winter 'Greyashe' 14  year old orphan Van Rayleigh along with his friends Nicolas and Nancy are completing their jobs as 'sweepers' in the city capital. As the snow that's always falling is considered a gift from the goddess Ancasta, the sweepers were the people trusted with cleaning it. In a sense their job is in an esteem that a priest would receive. After a job well done, the three go to meet their boss and guardian Mr. Sikes. He has with him a strange child with long black hair and golden eyes, wearing nothing more than a shawl; incredible as Greyashe's weather is always very cold! Sikes figures since Van and the child are close in age, he could try to talk to her; as none of his attempts have yielded any results. Van being the kind boy he is agrees, and the two depart. Van promises to be back home soon.....

Van asks the girl her name, and she replies by rattling off a long list of names she's gone by. Van finds out quickly that she doesn't have a name of her own, and that she's been on the lam for a few years. He's surprised when she reveals to him that she knows of 'his kind.' Van is then further shocked when she states that he is a 'Farseer' which is a clan of pacifistic people who can perceive human feelings and see several possible outcomes for a situation. To further evidence this, Van is able to accurately predict the reason why the girl does not take a name and stick with it, although they had only met a few moments ago. Van shares the red hair and hazel eyes of this clan, and that is what tips the girl off. He doesn't have time to be taken aback though, as man appears claiming to finally have found the 'traitor.' The girl quickly tells Van to flee while she takes on the intruder, but he is unable to fathom how a small girl could take on an adult man. The two talk for a bit, mostly about how the girl has managed to avoid them for the last few years, and he asks her if she believes that running away will bring happiness to the lives she's ended. She claims that by finding herself, she can begin to atone. The man attacks the girl, and to his (and Van's) surprise she is nimble on her feet and is a worthy opponent. It isn't long until she is overwhelmed however, and appears to have lost. But to Van's surprise, she takes a deep breath and breathes FIRE.

The man is prepared for this, and is wearing fire proof clothing. Van unable to just watch anymore, picks up the girl and begins to run on his own. She persists in telling him to leave, and that once he gets involved with her, his life is over. Van reveals that he had been wondering about himself for a long time. Although he understands that he is an orphan, he's always felt like he's been left behind more so than abandoned, and wants to seek out the answers to this. The girl realizes that he is not too different from herself, but before she can react their pursuant has caught up with them. He tells Van about how she betrayed their group 'The Challengers of Eternity' and that it wouldn't be long before she betrayed him. Van then tells him that he doesn't care as 'She's only a little girl', and more importantly, he feels that she can help him find the answers he's been looking for. The Farseer ability activates, and Van is able to accurately tell from what angle the girl needs to direct her flame, as the fire proof clothing isn't enough to take several hits in the same place. Their enemy is defeated.

The girl and Van run quickly, as it won't be long before his backup arrives. They reach the city limits, and Van stops to look back at the place where he grew up. He begins to weep, and the girl tells him to stay if he can't bear to leave home. Van replies that he wants to go with her badly, but he was very happy at home so to leave so suddenly is tearing him apart. The girl wants to comfort him, but she can't. She can't promise him that things will work out if they should travel together, and more importantly she too is torn by emotion.
